<description>Customer Center as a Tool for Increasing Competitiveness in Rail Freight Transport
Nedeliakova, Eva
Competitiveness in the transport market is perceived as a feature of a company to be successful in economic competition with sustainable growth. The subject of this contribution is a proposal to improve the services of the customer center of a rail freight company. The goal is to emphasize the importance of automating the processes of communication and exchange of information between the carrier and the customer. Based on the results of a research in the form of the Delphi method, where professionals from rail freight companies were addressed, the author proposed basic principles of customer center operation and communication applications that represent a fast, safe and effective tool for information exchange, data collection and their evaluation within the rail company. New applications strengthen business relations between the carrier and the customer using modern technologies. This leads to an improvement in the company’s position on the market and an increase in the level of the company’s competitiveness.

<title>Approaches to Improving the Locomotive Maintenance Organization System Through the Introduction of Reliability Centered Maintenance</title>

<description>Approaches to Improving the Locomotive Maintenance Organization System Through the Introduction of Reliability Centered Maintenance
Ochkasov, Oleksandr; Ocheretniuk, Maksym; Petrenko, Viačeslav
The efficiency of the locomotives depends on the rational use of technical resources intended for the smooth operation of railway transport. The organization of maintenance of locomotives is one of the most important areas in the railway sector and is constantly under development and improvement. One of the directions for improving the locomotive maintenance system is the use of the RCM methodology – Reliability Centered Maintenance – to optimize the planning of processes related to the maintenance of locomotives. In order to improve the maintenance system of locomotives, the authors made calculations concerning the predicted wear of wheelsets in locomotives based on a critical analysis of data obtained from the locomotive depot. The resulting calculations make it possible to predict the setting of locomotives for maintenance, considering the previous analytical data obtained during maintenance. The aim of improving locomotive maintenance is the reduction in downtime for locomotives that are idle waiting for maintenance. The paper presents the statement of the problem with the use of input data, analysis of the data, and their application for further prediction of equipment wear. The research shows that the application of the RCM methodology on the example of a locomotive depot allows for obtaining predictive data for subsequent use in the management of the maintenance system.

<title>Estimation of Running Smoothness and Derailment Stability Considering the Parameters of Passenger Car Suspension</title>
<link>https://etalpykla.vilniustech.lt/handle/123456789/160077</link>
<description>Estimation of Running Smoothness and Derailment Stability Considering the Parameters of Passenger Car Suspension
Bureika, Gintautas
The main features of passenger car dynamics such as running smoothness and a derailment stability are estimated in this publication. The running smoothness is evaluated considered the parameters of carbody vibrations and by oscillation of bogies. The oscillation of body, suspension and other running gear elements occur while train moving by track irregularities. The four-axle passenger car movement on tangent track with given vertical and lateral rail irregularities is simulated by using software package „Universal Mechanism” (UM). The dependence of oscillation amplitudes of passenger car body on track irregularities considering the suspension vertical and lateral stiffness were defined. The variation of derailment stability taking into account changing the stiffness of car suspension elements analysed in this work.

Monitoring the technical condition of rail wagons remains a significant challenge, especially concerning freight wagons. The article outlines the purpose of research agenda “Innovative Predictive Operation System for Wagon-Environment Interaction”. The research aimed to develop a dedicated solution for predicting failures and monitoring component wear in railway rolling stock. The system relies on a sensor infrastructure and predictive algorithms. This enables the detection of abnormal operating conditions before failures occur by analyzing patterns of abnormal behavior. The result of the research is creation of the effective monitoring and predictive system, which enables early detection of failures and optimization of maintenance and operation of the railway rolling stock.
