TCP pranešimų patvirtinimo mechanizmo įtakos maršruto parinktuvo našumui tyrimas

Abstract

Baigiamajame magistro darbe išnagrinėtas TCP protokolo veikimas, aptarti pagrindiniai mechanizmai ir algoritmai, naudojami norint užtikrinti sėkmingą duomenų perdavimą. Yra aptartas ir išanalizuotas TCP ACK paketų informacijos perteklius ir jo priežastys. Atlikta analizė kaip šis perteklius yra mažinamas ir pasiūlytas metodas kaip sumažinti šį perteklių, t.y. naudojant nustatytų sąlygų ACK filtrą. Darbe atlikti praktiniai matavimai su nauju ACK filtravimo mechanizmu, parodyti šio metodo privalumai ir trūkumai. Prie esamų ACK filtravimo metodų pasiūlytos naujo šio mechanizmo pritaikymo galimybės, kai ACK filtravimas yra naudojamas simetrinėse didelės spartos perdavimo linijose, norint sumažinti tarpinių ir galinių tinklo įrenginių (maršrutizatorių) apkrovą. Darbe atlikti praktiniai matavimai su skirtinga įranga, parodanti naujojo metodo teikiamus privalumus ir galimybes. Darbą sudaro 8 dalys: įvadas, TCP protokolo apžvalga, TCP ACK mechanizmas, ACK filtravimo įtaka TCP sesijai, ACK filtravimo įtaka maršruto parinktuvo apkrovai, išvados, literatūros sąrašas. Darbo apimtis – 60 p. teksto be priedų, 30 iliustr., 8 lent., 29 bibliografiniai šaltiniai. Atskirai pridedami darbo priedai.

Final master thesis presents the TCP protocol performance and reveals the basic mechanisms and algorithms which are used to ensure a successful data transfer. TCP ACK technological expenditures and it‘s causes broadly discussed and analyzed. Analysis has been performed with the purpose to find possibilities in minimizing above mentioned technological expenditures and to propose method to reduce this protocol overhead by using ACK filtering. Practical measurements with a new ACK filtering mechanism have been applied in the study in order to demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of the method. Adjustment of new mechanism possibilities has been introduced among the current ACK filtering methods especially when the ACK filtering is used in symmetrical, high-speed transmission lines, hoping to reduce the load of intermediate and terminal network devices (routers). Practical measurements with different equipment has been accomplished and presented in the final study with an intention to show the advantages and opportunities of the new method. The study consists of 8 parts: introduction, overview of TCP, TCP ACK mechanism, TCP ACK filtering effect session, ACK filtering influence on router load, the conclusions and references. Thesis consists of 60 p. of text without extras, 30 pictures, 8 tables, 29 bibliographical entries. Appendixes included.
