| lit |
dc.description.abstract | The effect of railway noise on the environment is felt in the station areas, and especially in zones in which there is a very small distance between the railway lines and the buildings which need a protection from noise. The railway station area of Kaišiadorys city is not an exception as well. In the examined area where the impact of railway noise is felt the noise created by about 70% of the examined trains exceeded the permissible values of sound level which are determined in HN 33: 2007 up to 20 dBA or in some cases even more. It was determined that the low frequency (31.5–315 Hz) sound is dominant in the noise spectrum and the highest noise levels reach 85 dB. Noise barriers are now in a spotlight as an efficient tool to suppress noise in its propagation path. Now it is normally accepted that noise barriers with adequate devices on their upper edge limit the sound wave diffraction more efficiently if compared to usual barriers of the same height or in some cases even higher. Such barriers are known as “modified-edge” noise barriers. The performed acoustic – natural researches help to evaluate the impact of the inclined top of the noise barrier on the efficiency of shielding airborne sound waves. While changing the slope angle respectively to 90°, 120°, 150°, 180°, such noise barriers were formed: “L90“, “J120”, “J150”, and “straight type”. The impact of the noise barrier shape on the noise scattering in the noise attenuation environment was observed in low (100-315 Hz) and high (2000-5000 Hz) frequency zones. The low frequency sound diffraction is most efficiently reduced by the “J120” barrier whereas in the high frequency zone the best results were obtained using the “straight type” noise barrier. Taking into consideration the results of the research on the portable construction suppressing noise and using the programme for modelling noise scattering “CadnaA”, the possibility to practically use this construction for reducing railway noise in the central residential part of Kaišiadorys city was considered. | eng |
