Abstract

Abundant statistic data of housing resources of Žvėrynas district has been selected in preparing a scientific study of the given part of the city. A part of this material which has cognitive as well as applied value is presented in the paper. The material is of considerable significance in drawing up and developing the design of a detailed planning of this zone. The author has sought to present the data not in an abstract manner but in relation with the data of Vilnius and other cities of Lithuania as well as those of the cities of the Baltic States. Treatment and chronological comparison of the given data revealed a certain imperfectness of the official statistic information and misleading data fluctuations. Based on eleven parameters a complex evaluation of sections of Žvėrynas has been carried out and three qualitative groups have been determined. The material provides useful information for practical activities under the new conditions of the market economy.
