Right next to the River Neimunas, on its protected banks (part of the Nemunas Loops Regional Park), the former Prienai Special School has been, transformed into a comfortable, ergonomic apartment block. Inside, the rather monochrome exterior of the building hides a number of brightly coloured accents. While the building was certainly more colourful on the inside compared to its rather bland exterior, the renovators further gave it a little more intensity by introducing a few more colour nuances and accentuating certain interior components. This apartment block, while looking entirely contemporary from the outside, has retained some expressive elements of the old building on the inside. The colourful stained-glass pieces on the interior add vitality and an element of the unexpected to its shared spaces, where even technical components, such as utility cabinets are covered under brightly-coloured glass, contributing to the overall play of colours. A differently-coloured recessed, section by the ceiling on each floor above the flat entrances also acts as a marker to help one find their way inside the apartment block. To accentuate the magnificent view outside the window, the doors to the flats are taller than usual for modern apartment blocks, such as to direct the attention, to the natural landscape upon entering, which itself acts strongly upon the interior.
