| dc.description.abstract | A jubilee of 50 years of the Department of Urban Engineering of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University was held on 2 October 2015 in Vilnius City Hall. A celebration was attented by the graduates of 48 crops, the former and present lectures, management of the University and the Department of Urban Engineering. An exhibition was held in the lobby of the City Hall which presented textbooks, educational books, monographs and other publications issued by the department, photo-albums of the department's history. The Department of Urban Engineering was established on 1 September 1965 in Vilnius Branch of Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (KPI). The first crop consisting of 13 urban engineers graduated from the Vilnius Branch of KPI in December 1967. The department was first headed by Prof. Dr. Eng. Vaclovas Vytautas Šeštokas. Professor V. Šeštokas was the first in Lithuania to solve the issues of urban engineering in a complex way. | eng |
