dc.description.abstract | The article deals with the conceptual principles of the dislocation, layout and spatial arrangement of short-term recreational places on the Highway “Via Baltica”. The article consists of three parts: a general review of the Highway “Via Baltica”, a scientific investigation and generalization of the pre-project analysis data and a description of some recommendations on the project. The authors present the results of the pre-project analysis: an estimation of the existing short-term recreational places, the investigation data on recreational activities and needs of travellers, etc. On the basis of these results the authors of the article have formulated the main tasks of the project conception. The main part of the article deals with some solutions of the project conception. The authors present concrete proposals on a periodical dislocation of short-term recreational places on the Highway. Architectural suggestions on layout and spatial arrangement of short-term recreational places of three types (for cars, trucks and various types of vehicles) are presented. Great attention is paid in the article to the view of the Highway, seeking to make it distinctive and original. According to the conception of the authors, the service objects on the Highway (motels, automobile service stations, etc.) are designed according to individual projects, and petrol stations - according to the projects of firms. This architectural variety should be joined into the whole by repeating periodically short-term recreational places and bus stops of a uniform architecture and design. For this purpose the authors present a detailed projection model. Following this model, the authors also present draft proposals of small - scale architectural objects and outdoor furniture for short-term recreational places and bus stops. | eng |
