dc.description.abstractThis article describes the method of an equivalent substitution of a nonlinear stress diagram into a rectangular stress block of the cross-section in reinforced concrete elements under bending, eccentric compression an eccentric tension under short-term load. The general relationships and dependences for equivalent substitutions of the above mentioned diagrams are given herein. This article also investigates the equivalent substitution of a compressed concrete nonlinear parabola-rectangular stress diagram, according to EC2, into a rectangular stress block. Additionally, here are presented the coefficients that allow equivalent substitution of the diagrams. These coefficients were obained by the linear approximation of the rations of the areas and depths of equivalent diagrams. The article compares the coefficients used in substitution of diagrams suggested in various design codes with the value ratios of areas and depths of the equivalent parabola line diagram and rectangular stress block.eng
