Abstract

For a while, the property beside Lukiškių Square, at the intersection of Cedimino Avenue and V. Kudirkos Street had been empty for a log time, became hidden behind tall fences, leaving citizens wondering whether it would be left to serve their needs and become another public space, perhaps a park or a square, or whether a building would finally arise. During an international architectural competition (which considered 6 designs) three years ago, it became clear that a multifunctional building complex would be built: a Hilton Garden Inn hotel, a business centre and residential buildings. Toward the end of summer this year, the Live Square building was opened, and it pays its dues to the citizens who had been accustomed to an unbuilt public area by moving it up onto the roof of the office building, inviting people to enjoy the views that are available from the roof of the building.
