Necessity to change the structure of the Lithuanian Railway system for operating in market economy is grounded in this article. One of the main problems is enterprise property (especially rolling-stock) registration. The rolling-stock fleet is very expensive (about 60% "LG" property), mobile and it carries out transportation processes. In 1997 the State Railway Inspection started establishing a rolling-stock registration system in Lithuanian Railways. The aim of this system is to collect, accumulate and systemize the data on rolling-stock. The structure of the data base of registered objects (Fig 1), the standard system for computer programs (Fig 2) and program algorithm (Fig 3) are presented. The owners of rolling-stock will be able to get immediately all the information about their locomotives, wagons, coaches and containers. The state institutions will be able to organize an efficient transport strategy and to control traffic safety on railways.eng
