Abstract

This paper deals with a rather young field of science – regional economics and its influence on business creation and development. Business is a sort of investment project; therefore expansion of business is bound by efficiency of investments in a specific region. It may be stated that economic development in the regions one way or another influences the creation and expanding of business. Tauragė region has been selected as a practical example as all typical attributes are characteristic to it. Social indicators of Tauragė region, of the entire country and of other regions, such as Vilnius, Klaipėda, and major economic indicators influenced by them are presented and compared in the paper. These indicators allow revealing their relations with business creation in this region.
