The usage of GPS for ellipsoidal height determination is analysed. Different forecast models could be used for this. Most of these models are based on H. Moritz theory. A priori exponential functions are used for determining forecast and collocation signal vectors covariance matrix applied to the forecast models. Accuracy of these models depends on the choice of the functions and on the determination of their parameters. A new method for determining covariance signal matrix of forecast and collocation signals is presented. It is based on measured quantities and known collocation signals by the least squares method. Measured quantities are the ellipsoidal heights determined by the GPS, signals of collocation are well known normal heights. A priori dependence between measured ellipsoidal heights and normal heights is expressed as the second degree polynomial by using vector of new parameters. For determining forecast unknown normal heights, covariance matrix of adjusted ellipsoidal heights and polynomal parameter vectors are used. Some cases of such determination are presented.eng
