dc.description.abstractThe Department of Environmental Protection of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University together with the University of Illinois and the Geology Service of Lithuania implementing a common research carried out an investigation of drinking-water quality and pollution sources in well field secondary protection zones. In fulfilling the Lithuanian-American program for solving the problems of the quality of water in Vilnius, the well field secondary protection zones were investigated around some of Vilnius well fields. The pollution analysis is not connected with the hydrogeochemical and technical peculiarities of the well fields, it is simply a visual analysis. The first analysis of TOC was carried out in Lithuania using the particular TOC DC-80 analyser. Due to the lack of a full compliance with the storage instructions for samples there was no conformity between the analyses results of Chicago and those of Šiauliai.eng
