dc.description.abstractThe adsorptive air cleaning method is used for cleaning the air from low and medium concentrations, of gaseous pollutants. This method has the following advantages: a compact and simple construction of the apparatus, cheapness and a high degree of air cleaning. It is very important to get adsorption isotherms of sulphur dioxide and water vapour on the adsorbent because water vapour takes part in the air cleaning process too. Natural zeolite is cheap and thermallyresistant, therefore we selected it as an adsorbent. The aim of the investigation was to determine the dynamic and static sulphur dioxide adsorption capacity. We also wanted to get the dependence of the natural zeolite adsorptive capacity on the water concentration in a sulphuric acid solution and to determine the specific area of the adsorbent. The adsorption capacity of water vapour on the surface of natural zeolite was determined by the gravimetric method and the capacity of sulphur dioxide was found by the photocolorimetric method.eng
