Abstract

The problem of dumping grounds arrangement has arisen during last few years in Lithuania due to careless activities of people. The article presents an overview of contamination sources inventory methods and describes the dynamics of contamination processes taking place in dumps. Structure of geometric and attribute databasis and principles of setting up filter and migration contamination modules and evaluation of discharge quantity based on afore-mentioned data are presented in the article. Analysis of dumping grounds on GIS basis is discussed and several exemples of analysis are presented. The experience of Lithuania, Danish specialists and environment protection organizations was used in preparation of the article. The work was carried out in joint Lithuanian, Danish and Swedish venture “Baltic Consulting Group”.
