Vilniaus miesto keleivinio transporto valdymo tobulinimas

Abstract

According to the project prepared by the author, on November 4, 1998 Municipality Enterprise “Susisiekimo paslaugos” (“Transport Service”) was established in Vilnius. This enterprise solves in a combined way all the issues concerning passenger transport organization and management in the city. It formulates certificates of routes, prepares competitions for service of routes, signs agreements with carriers, collects and distributes recovering losses and subsidies for carriers, produces and circulates tickets, checks tickets of passengers, co-ordinates activity hetween all passenger transport modes, etc. A similar municipality enterprise for the management of passenger transport will be established in Kaunas. There are plans to establish it in Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys as well. The establishment of such enterprises helps to solve the main issues of passenger transport organization and management in a more effective and complex way.
