Abstract

The article contains a statistical analysis of fires broken out in Lithuania in 1999. It includes description of locations of the caused fires, reasons and relevant damage incurred. There is an analysis given in connection with the course of a reform of rescue services and fire protection departments. Taking into consideration the necessity of integration into the European and worldwide international community, there arc steps to be made in the field of gradually transmission to preparation of a wide profile fireman rescuer. The calculated relative indices are given here, with the help of whose it is possible to make analysis of fires and to compare them with the experience of other countries.
