Most investigations of oil product dispersion in the soil performed by now were concerned only with vertical pollution dispersion, while investigations of horizontal pollution dispersion are lacking. This work is to help to diminish this gap. The aim of the investigation is to determine petroleum penetration in sand. Experimental tests were carried out in a five-layer box (600×600×500mm) which was filled with sand. During testing 1.0 l of petroleum was poured into the centre of the sand box. After 1, 2 and 3 hours samples were taken, and investigation of horizontal and vertical petroleum penetration was started.eng
