A time of challenge and university's growth

Abstract

The material of this monography deals with development of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in general and partly with other Lithuanian higher education institutions, their study, research, international as well as internal development. The authors analyses the changes in the universities mission in developing society, the new tasks of the universities and higher education reforms overall, the efforts of the universities to maintain their essence and dynamism while the economical situation in the country is in transit state and very complicated. The material had the aim to present the Lithuanian higher engineering education worldwide, running reforms and the efforts of the universities to integrate themselves into European higher engineering education space.
