This paper investigates the resistance of mortars to alkali silica reactions (ASR), strength development of mortars and concrete in which cement is partially replaced by a variety of European ground brick (GB) pozzolans. For ASR test the mixes were designed with high-alkali cement and 10, 20 and 30 % cement replacement levels of British (B), Danish (D), Lithuanian (L) and Polish (P) ground brick. A natural sand to which was added 5 % ground opal sand. Mortar bars (25 ´ 25 ´ 285 mm) produced from the mixes were stored at 38 ° C and 100 % relative humidity and their lengths monitored with time. Currently are available up to 910 days. These are encouraging in the increasing replacement levels of all four ground brick types results in decreasing levels of expansion. However, the degree to which this is simply due to dilution of the cement has yet to be established. [...].eng
