Main factors in investigating passenger public transport service market in Lithuania

Abstract

The aim of the article is to analyze the opportunities of Lithuanian residents to use the services of the public transport (PT) system, factors influencing their needs and demands; the extent of dependence upon social and economical opportunities, the way passenger needs are affected by changes in the mode of life, inhabitant split and workplace location. The opportunities of the inhabitants forming the main passenger PT service market are predetermined by several main factors the impact of which upon the market tends to fluctuate. Thus, the article discusses the entirety of the inhabitants of the whole country and its main cities, then it analyses the potential passenger PT service market. Special research and statistical data are analysed on the above issues.
