Predictive, epistemic approach to assessing damage to structures arising from man-made accidents

Abstract

This paper discusses assessing damage to structures from accidental actions by means of a predictive, epistemic approach to risk analysis. The discussion is focussed on actions which can be imposed on structurs during heavy man-made accidents. It is suggested to express results of damage assessment in terms of a risk containing frequencies of foreseeable damage events and outcomes of these events.[...].
