Vilniaus Gedimino technikos universiteto Tiltų ir specialiųjų statinių katedros vedėjas prof. habil. dr. Gintaris Kaklauskas atrado, kam reikalingos išeiginės dienos.
Dr. habil. Gintaris Kaklauskas, Head of Bridges and Special Structures Department at VGTU, has discovered that he needs days off. This happened after one unpleasant incident, when doctors advised to avoid stress and, at least... occasionally, to have a rest. However, the work to the professor means three in one: a source of livelihood, pleasure and hobby, whereas sports and a healthy lifestyle is part of work, “as it helps to withstand much higher workloads at the University”. The Professor regularly jogs, exercises, rides bicycle, plays football, or does power exercises. “Life is about movement. However, when exercising, I often solve scientific issues that are being dealt with by our research group and individual postgraduate students. The most important new scientific solutions to problems come in different circumstances, but not sitting at the table,” revealed the Professor. When working for the famous Danish COWI company as Marie Curie’s fellowship recipient, or at the U.S University of Illinois, as well as in other foreign countries, the Professor always used to miss his home. Once he refused a lucrative contract from Nanyang University in Singapore and a possibility to remain in a teaching position at the University of Illinois in order to return to Lithuania as soon as possible. “Here I have a family who is waiting and a lot of sincere people who I’m pleased to communicate as well as work with. I have an excellent research team, very proactive young men, including five postgraduate students and two academic workers,” rejoiced Gintaris Kaklauskas. The Professor is involved in activities of many international scientific organizations, programmes and funds as an expert, has delivered lectures at renowned foreign universities, publishes his works in the world’s best scientifi c journals.eng
