Study cohort covered Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) first-year students selected at random out of the ones admitted in 2002 (n=l 17), 2003 (n=100), and 2004 (n=100). Research data show that boys admitted to VGTU demonstrate a medium level of physical development, physical fitness, and functional capacity. The greater part of physical fitness indices shows a tendency to grow every year. However some indices exhibit a tendency to drop. This is especially obvious in the development of hand force. Functional capacity of the greater part of newly admitted first-year students is satisfactory. However there is a definite group of students who demonstrate very low fanctional capacity of circulation. Special measures ought to be taken to improve the condition of these students.eng
