Technical expertise/investigations of fire are based on the achievements of different branches of science (criminology, physics, electrotechnics, construction, etc.) that scientifically base the provisions set forth in the conclusion of the fire technical expertise and prove reality thereof. Exact establishment of reasons for fire rise, evaluation and analysis thereof have influence on fire prevention, also when solving the matters related to the presence or absence of elements constituting the criminal offence. Correct establishment of the reason for fire occurence is possible only in such case if the place of fire rise (i.e. fire focus) is found, however, namely the foregoing is one of the most compliacted tasks in the area of fire investigation. Purpose of the present report is to convey the experience of fire investigations in Lithuania, to familiarize with the methods for investigation of fires, advantages and disadvantages thereof, to submit certain statistic data as well as findings of scientitifc researches.eng
