A modern town of Wroctaw has more than. 100 bridges and the oldest bridge was built in 1861. It is a Piaskowy bridge. But the: most famous one is a suspension bridge Grunwaldzki, which is a contrast to the Pokoju bridge. The northern Pomorski.;. bridge contains a heavy neo-Roman form and light elements of secession times, and, the Otawski bridge by its architecture re- ; minds structures of Paris and Rome. The Zwierzyniecki and Szczytnicki bridges connect the banks of the Odra River and lead to the Zoological Garden (established in 1865) and to the Szczytnicki Park that was established in 1785 by Duke Friedrich Ludwig Hohenlohe-lngelfingen. Now it is one of the largest parks of Wroclaw covering the area of 112 ha. In 1867-1885, 10 bridges were built in Wroclaw that had Schwedler steel constructions. At present Wroclaw has four bridges off Schwedler system: two Mtynskie bridges! Sikorskio ancrteotMieszczanski bridge. They have been recognised to be monuments (in 1976 they were put on the list off heritage); they are protected by legal acts. Although the 'bridges underwent repairs and were reinforced, they still have steel, girders, original cast-iron railing, stone, abutments and piers. These bridges are 130 old and they are among the oldest steels-bridges of Poland. The Grunwaldzki bridge in known in the history of bridges due to original construction solutions.eng
