Development of supermarkets in Lithuania has tight relationship to an air shed type shopping. Its origins in the last decade of the 20th century have equipped towns of the country with huge multifunctional centres. Eventually, attraction to the centres is inspired not only by prices and goods, but cosy environment. “Akropolis” in Klaipėda, could be easily recognized by its elder cousins – supermarkets. The function – to shop and entertain - remains the same. Yet, the architectural forms attempt to become as elegant as possible. Trim materials get more expensive. They are still obliged to seduce the admass. Artistic elements – sculptures, specially designed illuminators and lucent screens are finally incorporated into the “super-hyper-game”. Innovations and new possibilities of attraction are declared by architecture.eng
