The experience of the countries, which succeeded in reducing poverty significantly, indices the importance of sustained high economic growth and high employment. The article analyses the relationship between economic growth and employment with special focus on the role of employment in shaping the linkage. The author proposes that the rate of poverty reduction depends on three underlying factors: economic growth, employment - intensity of economic growth and integrability factor. Different statistical indicators are analysed in the article with the purpose of examination of whether and how the economic growth has led to structural changes in an economy which has benefited the poor in Lithuania.eng
