Abstract

The article deals with the analysis of the energy supply diversification possibilities and storage options available to Lithuania. The existing infrastructure of the energy system was analysed and weakness of the system was tested using a set of various scenarios. Failure of gas and oil supplies from Russia to Lithuania or to all the Baltic countries was analysed and possibilities to solve the emergency situation using only domestic resources and infrastructure or acting together with the other Baltic countries were assessed. Various options to increase Lithuania’s security were analysed, available costs were indicated and feasibility of these options was assessed.
