Abstract

The Lithuanian fundamental GPS network consists of zero, first and second order networks. Four points of zero order GPS network were established with the help of specialists from Nordic countries during the GPS campaign EUREF. BAL'92. Two of the above mentioned points were measured with the help of Polish specialists during the GPS campaign EUREF.POL'92 as well. The first order GPS network consisting of 52 points was established in 1993. Average distance between points is 40 kilometers. Observations were performed with Ashtech P-12 GPS receivers donated by the Danish government. Network baseline maximum relative error is 0.17 ppm. The second order GPS network establishment was started in 1994. Totally 114 points were determined. The average distance between points is 7-10 kilometers. Observations were performed with Ashtech GPS receivers. The network baseline maximum relative error is 0.63 ppm. Coordinates of GPS network were determined in a new Lithuanian Geodetic Coordinate System LKS 94. GPS network establishment activities were coordinated by the State Department of Surveying and Mapping of Lithuania. The actual job was performed by the Institute of Geodesy at Vilnius Technical University.
