The purpose of this paper is to develop a framework for analysis of career transition experiences. In companies that are flattering their structures, in specific organizations where career is short, middle-aged traditional career-oriented people are losing their career paths. The object of the study is early retired police and military officers who are reintegrating into dynamic labor market. This process involves specifics of breaking hierarchical dependencies. It is related to conceptual shift, since career is no longer perceived as institutional framework, but rather as an individual agency. One of the central questions in this study is whether people adapt to new roles as proactive designers of their own careers, and if this proactivity leads to expected results. As method of analysis a multi-case study approach is used. Research results provide theoretical ground for formulation of policy implications in order to facilitate further integration of former police and military officers into civil labor market.eng
