Christopherio Alexnderio ,,Trečioji teorija

Abstract

Keturi Christopherio Alexanderio Tvarkos prigimties tomai, neretai priskiriami jo trečiajai architektūros teorijai, yra veikiausiai pats ambicingiausias architekto ir mąstytojo bandymas sukurti iš tiesų mokslišką ir holistinę (visumišką) architektūros ir dirbtinės aplinkos teoriją atsižvelgiant į gamtos fizinius ir metafizinius aspektus. Straipsnyje pateikiami svarstymai, susiję su Alexanderio toerijos Opus Magnum ir ankstesniais jo veikalais. Teigiama, kad teorija, kurią pateikė Christopheris Alexanderis, galima laikyti moksliška, nors jai galbūt ir trūksta tam tikro įprastinio mokslinio aparato ir nekreipiama pernelyg daug dėmesio į įprastinį akademinį rašymo stilių. Tačiau šie tariami trūkumai ir konvencijų nepaisymas, paradoksalu, leido Alexanderiui pateikti labai neįprastą ir originalią architektūros teoriją, glaudžiai susijusią su jo paties architektūros praktika bei gamtos mokslų žiniomis. Bandymas architektūroje ir dirbtinėje aplinkoje apjungti "fiziką“ ir "metafiziką“ atsižvelgiant į susirūpinimą gamtos ir dirbtinės aplinkos perspektyvomis, taip pat žmogaus sąmonės vaidmens suvokimas padarė jo intelektualinį projektą daugeliu atžvilgių išskirtinį. Jis gali būti potencialiai daug naudingesnis intelektualus projektavimo įrankis, nei šiuo metu gebama pripažinti.

The four volumes of The Nature of Order often referred to as Christopehr Alexander‘s Third Theory is perhaps the most ambitious and recent attempt made by the architect and thinker at creating a truly holistic theory of architecture and the built environment. The article provides a discussion of his Opus Magnum in relation to the architect‘s earlier work. It is suggested that a theory offered by Christopher Alexander can be considered scientific even it shows a certain lack of scholarly apparatus and a certain disregard of conventional academic style. These supposed drawbacks, however, paradoxically allow Alexander to present an unconventional and original architectural theory strongly related to his own architectural practice and his knowledge of natural sciences. The attempt to bridge the “physics“ and “metaphysics“ of architecture in relation to the present concern about the future of the natural and built environment, as well as persistent consideration of human consciousness and its environment, makes his intellectual project exceptional in many ways. That project is potentially far more useful as an intellectual tool of design than many are ready to acknowledge at the present moment.
