Analysis and assessment of biofilter pcked with reed charge
Abstract
In this master thesis the possibility of using biofilter packed with common reed biomedia for cleaning the air from volatile organic compounds is analyzed. In experimental studies cover the analysis of biofilter air treatment efficiency dependence on the different chemical nature of the contaminants (formaldehyde, benzene and toluene), the height of biomedia and air flow rate. After the experimental studies were performed the biofilter mathematical model was designed using PHOENICS 3.5.1 software for simulating the air flow and pollutant concentration distribution in the biofilter. The results obtained from the simulation were compared with experimental and conclusions were formed. The work consists of 5 main sections: literature review, description of the methodology used, analysis of experimental results, the air flow and pollutant concentrations distribution in biofilter modeling using PHOENICS 3.5.1 software and also recommendations, conclusion, references and annexes are presented. Thesis consist of 100 p., 34 pictures and 7 tables.
