Psichiatrijos klinika Vilniaus Vasaros g. 5
Abstract
The objective of the thesis for a Master‘s degree in Architecture, „Mental Health Clinic in Vasaros st. 5, Vilnius“, is to design a modern and a humane psychiatric clinic, having a connection with the society. The site designated for the building is a lot connected to a current hospital complex and situated near the city centre, yet also in proximity to the natural environment. The projected building is the element which finalizes the structure of the hospital complex and becomes the face of the territory. The main part of the building is formed by a platform terrace of shifting direction and different heights which contains main hospitals rooms for consulting, diagnostics and ward maintenance. The terrace holds building elements of different heights and irregular shapes which are designed to serve as wards for patients. The terrace is designed for both the patients of the clinic and city inhabitants. Both the interior and exterior of the building presents many different, unexpected spaces. A part of the building has a projected underground car parking lot. An innovative, ecological and economical system of cross laminated timber is used for the construction of the building. The thesis consists of drawings, models and a research containing analysis of analogues and presenting the programme of the project, as well as describing architectural, constructional and engineering solutions.
