Abstract

The authors of the article "Road and Environment" have analysed some aspects of a direct influence of roads on the environment. Based on the research data of Lithuanian and Finnish scientists a number of problems of a negative influence on the environment are discussed. An uneven dispersion of the emission of transport is analysed as a consequence of the type of vehicle and road; the amounts of pollution from automobile transport in Lithuania, Estonia and Finland are compared using Finnish ELIISA program. The Finnish program for the calculation of traffic emission and the program of the Department of Roads of Vilnius Technical University are compared, the problems of traffic noise in Vilnius are discussed, new data about all Lithuanian roads are presented. Other problems of the influence of roads on the environment are also discussed.
