The study reports a first comprehensive approach to the proteome analysis done by comparing the protein profiles characteristic of bee- and manually-collected common dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) pollen. Proteins isolated from the bee- and manually-collected pollen was fractionated by two-dimensional electrophoresis, visualized by staining with Colloidal Coomassie G-250, and after tryptic-digestion analysed by mass spectrometry. A computer-assisted analysis was performed for comparison of protein profile maps typical of bee- and manually-collected dandelion pollen.
