The main terms of modern civic society come from Latin because the theoretical principles of "civic society" as a concept were formulated in Ancient Greece and Rome. The Roman concept of a civic society is more acceptable for modern understanding because of its emphasis on personal life and personal matters in the context of state and society. Etymological analysis shows that some terms have undergone semantic transformation toward more comprehensive ones or have lost their original meaning. Understanding the etymology of civic terms could help realize the theoretical foundation of a civic society and educate individuals while forming up their personal civic consciousness.eng
