This chapter includes of the Purification of Biochemicals and is made up of seven sections which provide procedures used in the literature for purifying the respective substances, together with their physical properties, molecular weights and empirical formulae, melting and boiling points, densities, refractive indexes, optical rotations (if chiral) etc, and their Chemical Service Registry Numbers. In some cases brief synthetic procedures have been included which could assist in the purification. Most of the references to the original literature are followed by their DOIs or PMIDs so that the reader can download the publication from the internet without leaving the laboratory. The seven sections comprise the Introduction, Amino Acids and Peptides, Proteins, Enzymes, DNA and RNA, Carbohydrates, Carotenoids, Steroids and Physiologically Active Compounds.
