dc.description.abstractNumerical characteristics of car tyre deflection due to overload were investigated. The finite element model of the car wheel including metallic rim, a composite tyre with metallic reinforcement and detailed geometry of thread was developed and applied for the nonlinear dynamic analysis. This investigation addresses tyre deflection. Comparison of different combinations of normal pressures, loads, and overloads revealed a partial unloading of tyre–road contact. Thus, overload reduces friction and may negatively affect the safety of moving carseng
