Apžvelgiant miestų kūrimosi istoriją: ar tikrai gyvensime XXI amžiaus getuose?
Abstract
Nowadays urban builders and city planners face new urban concepts, such as balanced and harmonious urban development, sustainable and even smart environment. However, according to Konstantinas Jakovlevas Mateckis, the Architect and Professor at VGTU, this process is not a new phenomenon throughout the urban history. Since ancient times, people planned their cities according to the epoch’s engineering requirements and the latest achievements in technics and construction. After reviewing the history of urban development, VGTU Professor names the largest urban challenges of our times, i.e. the necessity of ‘driving out’ cars from the internal courtyards of multifamily homes and looking for space for modern parking places as well as for greenery in the local residential areas.
