VGTU 60 metų jubiliejų pasitinka lyderio pozicijose

Abstract

At present the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is one of the largest and most important centres of technical sciences not only in Lithuania but also in the entire Central and East European region. Here innovations are created that are used in industry and production, here solutions are searched for that will help enterprises to more effectively compete, here ideas are bom for destgning a better living environment. VGTU is important not only at the centre of science but also as a catalyst for economic growth and changes. Many of innovations having made contribution to the national engineering, industry and economic progress were developed, tested and implemented by the VGTU scientists. Today, having modern laboratories, acknowledged scientists and a generation of ambitious young scientists, VGTU became a valuable partner in international scientific research. Being between the three best universities in Lithuania, VGTU celebrates its 60th anniversary at the peak - during the last admission of students (2015) the University took the second place by the number of newly admitted students. Furthermore the reform of studies was completed this year which helped to renew a content of study programmes, to optimize the number of study programmes and the workload of lecturers, also the quality management system has been implemented ensuring the effectiveness of quality of studies and other on-going processes. The event was attended by the most notable VGTU alumni - Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius. One of the highlights of the event was Alumni Congress.
