The shortcomings of the housing development strategy and its lack of management capacity exacerbate moral, economic and social disparities among the population. To avoid this, some countries are building local communities (for everyone who wants to live in them) that plan, run, and administer housing projects by encouraging their self-management. Developers of this type of project distance themselves from the market economy and real estate speculation, while at the same time creating ecological, economical housing and planning their environment according to their needs. The study examines the method of architectural formation of local residential structures, which is not yet used in Lithuania, and which provides for the involvement of future residents in all stages of residential building and environment development, from design to construction. The study reveals the advantages Community-Built Housing projects: aesthetics, sustainability, coziness, affordability and disadvantages: 2 times longer project implementation process.
