Improving micro- and nano-electronics education using interactive teaching methodology and TCAD tools
Santrauka
Modern electronic devices, information, and telecommunication systems are increasingly becoming more important in our lives. Therefore, the design and manufacture of micro- and nano-electronic devices are an integral part of the Electronic and Electrical engineering study area. The teaching of different manufacturing processes of micro- and nano-electronic devices and especially the quality of the teaching depends on the resources, which the university possesses. Only in rare cases, a university has the opportunity to manufacture semiconductors. Because of the following reason, professors of various universities face the main problem – how to reduce the gap between the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the students. This article provides and discusses the interactive lecturing method, which allows students to use smart devices during the lectures, thus improving the student progress up to 15 %-18 % and improves the attendance of the lectures by 8 %. It is expected to increase the students’ interest towards manufacturing of semiconductor devices by using this method and TCAD software tools, therefore providing students with academicals skills, knowledge and practical abilities for a creation of future micro- and nano-electronic devices. This interactive lecturing method was adapted and tested at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
