Abstract

Open spaces - the main accents of the LSMU Faculty of Health building volumetric expression. Part of the ground floor of the building is open and covered with arches, under which stationary benches with tables are designed, while the entrance has a completely open space left next to it - one of the two atriums of the building. The other atrium is on the first floor, and around it, the research laboratories and various learning rooms are situated. The facade elements create a distinctive interior space. A dense rhythm of square windows or larger openings of arch-encased windows divided by steel structures provide the rooms with uniqueness, even though the purpose of all the auditoriums is the same. A definite advantage of this creation - sensitivity towards context, drawing inspiration on the surroundings, even in choosing the finish materials and colour, which helps to harmoniously integrate the building into the whole complex of rather varied expression.
