Rolandas Palekas. Architektūra, tapusi religija
Abstract
„Pagrindinis architekto uždavinys – sugalvoti, kaip, tenkinant visus tuos suskaičiuojamuosius dalykus, vis dar sukurti kai ką nesuskaičiuojamo“, – apie religija jam tapusią profesiją sako Vilniaus Gedimino technikos universiteto profesorius, garsus architektas Rolandas Palekas. Prof. Dr. Rolandas Palekas, VGTU teacher and winner of the National Culture and Art Award, is often cooperating with foreign partners. “I noticed that materialism and pragmatism is prevailing abroad, and is affecting the decisions of almost all architects. Of course, we cannot argue that it does not exist in Lithuania. It would be naïve to expect the altruistic customers, looking at architecture as art, understanding that one should sacrifice something for the sake of the intangible and uncountable. For example, to agree on a smaller area or choose not necessarily the most cost-effective form of the building, – such cases are rare. Apparently, the main task of the architect is to meet the requirements of all those material things, and at the same time, to create something uncountable, that is above the figures” – Prof. Dr. Rolandas Palekas is revealing the most important task of an architect.
