I am happy to hand you over to the next 16th German-Lithuanian Colloquium and 6th Meeting of the Working Group on Sustainable Development and Civil Engineering, in conjunction with the 2nd International Workshop on Construction and Management, Flexible Approach. The key to this year's event was the 75th birthday of Professor Oleg Kaplinski, Dr h.c. His contribution to the development of our specialty was solemnly honored during a special session with the participation of the highest authorities of the Poznan University of Technology, Chairman of our Section at the Polish Academy of Sciences, and foreign guests and subsequent ceremonies at the Main Library of the Poznan University of Technology. The flexible approach mentioned in the title refers to the current management trends (Industry 4.0, Project Management 2.0) that facilitate the implementation of construction processes in a changing environment based on flexibility options. Naturally, the theme of the speeches covers a broader range of issues related also to risk management, the use of BIM technology for quality management etc. We were pleased to host university representatives and industry practitioners who had the opportunity to discuss jointly the proposals regarding the promotional work of our junior colleagues. I am glad that Prof. Richard de Neufville from MIT, in spite of his many responsibilities, gave an interesting lecture on the application of flexibility. Thanks to all international participants, especially to Prof. Maria Antoinette Esposito from University of Florence for an active participation in our meeting. Special thanks to the Management Board of the Polish Gas Company for interesting presentations and an opportunity to familiarize with the methods of facility management at headquarters near Saint Roch Bridge. Hoping for further cooperation, we sincerely thank our reliable sponsors this year: BASF, PERI, ViaCon and DORBUD. Thanks also to Dr. Marcin Gajzler and Piotr Nowotarski for the perfect organization of the meeting and cooperation with our publisher (Elsevier Ltd.). I hope that arrival in Poznan also allowed discussions outside the conference room during our organized tours of the royal -imperial route and an individualized tour of our city, which offers many attractions within easy walking distance of the Poznan University of Technology campus (Malta Lake, Old Market Square, Centrum Trade and Art Old Brewery, Aquapark Malta etc.). I would like to thank all the participants and invite all of you with your friends to join our next meetings in the future.
