This paper presents the numerical modelling of cracked Reinforced Concrete (RC) tension members based on the stress-transfer approach. The modelling is able to accurately account for the effects of cracking, thereby allowing the deformational and serviceability analysis of RC members subject to direct tension. Computation algorithm and implementation procedures of the stress-transfer approach are devised so as to encompass the stochastic variation of mechanical properties of concrete. Moreover, as the serviceability performance of cracked RC members is largely dependent on the bond-slip model, a sensitivity analysis is conducted with the adoption of different bond models to examine their influence on the cracking and deformation results. It is found that satisfactory results of overall deformation response can be achieved with the use of various bond stress-slip relations. On the other hand, the computed crack spacing and crack width are relatively sensitive to the bond model employed.eng
