Sacral structures are of great importance in the spatial structure and semiotic map of historical religious centers. A multi - religious community creates a complicated and rich religious building heritage. Vilnius is distinguished among other religious centers with its diversity of religious structures. The Catholic heritage comprises the most valuable part of their system. An important role in the development of urban tissue was played by the town chapels. Intensive building activity of the chapels was carried-out in the 17th century. It was caused by the requirements of Counter-Reformation. The Baroque ideology combined them into a strict composition with other structures and town public spaces. The most valuable Baroque chapels were built in St.Peter ant Paul church, in the beninning of Kalvarijų street, in Verkiai (Cross Road ensemble). Most of these chapels have been destroyed. Historic investigation reveals frequent reconstructions and rebuilding of the chapels. But the building sites always remained permanent. This tradition was interrupted by the demolition of religious structures in the seventies of the present century. Now there is the need and possibility to rebuild the sacral structures in their previous sites. Their architectural forms should be modem, corresponding to their building traditions but in the previous sites.
