Programme Interreg III A aims at the improvement of the infrastructure of roads, railways, inland waterways and seaways, modernization of cross-border points (stations?) and improvement of services. Four districts are eligible to contribute from the profits of this programme in Lithuania: Alytus, Mariampole, Klaipeda and Taurage. Among the potential programme's beneficiares are also three euro-regions from the six operating in Lithuania, i.e. Nemunas, Šešupe and Saule. The main goal of the Interreg Community initiative is to implement cross-border trans-national and inter-regional cooperation that is intended to encourage the harmonious, balanced and sustainable development of the European Union (EU) territory [...].
