Analysis of the logistics information-communication technologies situation in Lithuania survey results

Abstract

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) play very significant role in logistics and transport system management, so trade companies and manufacturing industry have a big demand of such ICT systems, because there exist lots of information, which must be quickly processed, evaluated and, if it's necessary, given to customers. The purpose of the current article is to give a partial overview about the ICT situation, usage and development among Lithuanian companies. In this article is presented ICT situation survey witch was accomplished in 2007. The respondents of the survey were mainly Small and Medium sized Enterprises' (SME's) from transport, logistics, manufacturing, trading and other industries of Lithuania. Survey results confirmed some problematic assumptions lack of ICT personnel, lack of tailored solutions for the companies and from the positive side open mindedness of Lithuanians for using ICT in their everyday work.
